The generations who grew up in the 90's or early 2000's absolutely are not effective communicators when compared to prior generations, and the reasons are obvious. They grew up with electronic devices in their hands, communicate with friends virtually rather than in conversation, and overall have poor social skills. I notice it with my younger cousins. It's a real pity. :( So, my position has always been that the advent of technology - a blessing AND a curse. It has definitely change interpersonal relations, for the worse in my view.
