My route was a bit different, as we drove all the way to Mestia also, stopping at various off the beaten paths in between. I didn't like Kutaisi, and can't understand why the official Georgian government was moved to this town. Just an ugly, run down city from my viewpoint. Tbilisi is much more magical. :) I guess the locals are just used to this chaos, they don't understand that it's not orderly, and that things can be much different, and safer. I really wanted to do the Road to Tusheti, but it was closed in October when I was there. And, unfortunately, some Israeli tourists died on that road the day I arrived, as they were trying to maneuver it on their own.
