"Typical American woman"

I don't know how foreigners perceive the "typical American woman." However, three times this week, I have been called this.

Stereotypes - they are very damaging in many cases, and must be quashed. We are all influenced by stereotypes on some level, but I really try to erase them from memory when traveling, forming impressions based only on pure experience. Most recently, I can say it about Georgia - where everyone warned me about all kinds of things, when in reality I encountered almost none of the horrors mentioned. In the end, we are responsible for the company we keep. You have the choice to surround yourself with good, positive and uplifting...or, you can run wild with the animals in the zoo.

Most people using this phrase - "typical American woman" have never even met, or had any real experience with an American woman. Therein lies the problem...that is all I really want to say for today. :)

I have many friends from the USA and I see one trait in everybody - tunnel vision.

Especialy in comparison with europeans, including me. Americans are not interested in history,culture,literature of other countries, even if they like to travel.

And also americans are very conservative. The best word to describe them - people from cultural suburbs of Europe.

And about typical american woman. When I read you blog it does not looks like a blog of an adult woman, your way of thinking is adolescent.

It's very strange how you lump everyone together and judge an entire nation. Half of America is conservative, half very liberal - normal divide that exists in almost all nations, including European ones. Or, you haven't paid attention to recent political events there, where far right wing candidates are gaining momentum? If you find my thinking to be adolescent, so be it. :) What exactly do you expect "an adult woman" to blog about?

This is the typical american style of thinking. Reading in a church lecture about morality and immediately after it going to brothel.

I do not write that it is bad, but I see it very funny.

There is a russian proverb "simplicity is worse than stealing". I see americans as very simple people. Even canadians look differently, more close to europeans.

I do not see the correlation. So what if a woman uses a vibrator, or even discusses masturbation? There is nothing immoral about it, as masturbation is a component of existence for many humans. More importantly, this doesn't mean she wants unsolicited sex messages from Internet strangers. If I'm writing about sex in this blog, it's not in a salacious manner, but to explore psychological and cultural aspects of sexuality. I'm not like many other female bloggers, who just show their tits and ass in provocative posts. If you can't see the difference between me and them, then you really don't understand anything about me, or this blog. Finally, if you find Americans to be so simple and uncultured, why do you want U.S. citizenship??

As a european I do not see any significant differences between republicans and democrats in spite of reading a lot about history of the USA. Your political life is too primitive from my perspective.

She provokes male readers to write her messages about sex. But it is very difficult for you to understand this because you are a typical american woman. In Europe if a woman speaks with strangers about sex it means that she flirts with them.

First reaction on it in Europe was how is it possible to live among so boring people?

I never wrote that americans are bad scientisits or engineers,they are the best in the world, but in other areas they look too simple from my perspective.

Also the problem of americans is the classical Orwell's doublethink. As a Russian I hate political correctness,small talks, I always say what I think. If I want to fuck you I will say it and will not write long articles about vibrators and lesbian experience.

If I want to fuck you for american passport I will say this and not say that I love you.

And you have already lost cultural leadership in the world, you will also lose political and science leadership.

Stereotypes, or better say generalisations - like outer circle. Make life simpler. If someone have something special for you - you become unique for him. Even if he is your boss or neighboar.

That's right - if someone does not bring some positive emotion, feeling or warmth when you're around them, what's the point? I only surround myself with such people in life. Otherwise, there is too much negative energy and this is both physically and mentally draining.
