Testing...who is here?

Sometimes you write a post, and the words are like a huge echo. You have no idea where the words travel, who hears their tone, or in what country the human reading them is located. So, this post is just a short test to check blog traffic, and see who is still visiting LJ during the long holiday in Russia.

I can't imagine having so many days off in a row, as it is unheard of in the USA unless you are taking personal vacation. The country simply would not shut down for two weeks. I was off for too many days the past month because my office was empty, with no work to do. I almost went insane from idleness, but got to see some films in the cinema - the children's movie "Sing," "Passengers", and a very good and touching movie called "Manchester by the Sea." Plus, tons of old films on Netflix. :)

Who is here? :) Also, how many of you have heard of Dreamwidth.org? This is another blogging platform, with an interface similar to LJ. I am thinking about cross-posting there, as there is a mix of both Russian and English language blogs, in an effort to draw new readers and commentators to the blog. I want to continue to publish posts about my journey to the tiny gem called Georgia, but only if there are people to view the words and photos, to absorb the stories, and somehow find meaning, pleasure, or even aggravation in them.

Happy New Year dear readers! I hope 2017 is a good one...

Many (most of?) people don't read blogs directly on the platform, but use RSS/Atom readers instead. And for those people it really doesn't matter which platform do you use - they read your posts in their lovely RSS aggregator/reader.
Significant amount of authors I read moved to Dreamwidth from LJ after the latter moved its servers to Russia.
Bottom word: seems you're free of choosing Dreamwidth or any other platform you feel comfortable with, and it won't make any issues to your readers in case if you flagged that you moved to the new address.
But keep posting - I'm one of your silent readers ;)

...and again, it is usually possible to make 'cross-posts' from new platform to the old one - for those conservative people who don't want to read you on the new address.

Hmm, well I'm a bit tech challenged. :)) What do you mean "RSS/Atom readers"? Is this a type of content aggregator, pulling stories/news from various sources into one feed? I usually only cross-post my content and links on FB. It is very nice to hear from silent readers like you on occasion. :) Happy New Year!

Good point by this reader. I use an app called Newsify. It is an RSS reader which picks up unread posts and articles from multiple sources to which I am subscribed. Including your blog, Shannon:) I also get NY times, Time mag, a few other LJ authors, etc. It is very convenient- you don't have to visit every blog to see what's new. An update is "pushed" to you.

Thanks for the explanation. I am not using any type of service like this, but sounds useful! :)

Very useful. I mainly use it on ipad. RSS is basically a standard that allows to aggregate content in certain format and "push" it to a reader. Most sites support it, including LJ.

Yes, it's a kind of software (or a web service), using which you can subscribe to blogs, and then read new posts in one feed.
Here is an example of such web services: http://sixrevisions.com/tools/free-rss-readers/
It is very convenient if you're subscribed to dozens of blogs.

Thanks! I unspammed the comment. It was flagged because it had a hyperlink. LJ immediately marks all such messages as "spam".
