When speaking about a geographic location, "hole" in English means a place that is out of the way, hard to reach, or really run down/in poor condition. In the last instance, we would call such a place a "hell hole" in English. :) It's a slang term, frequently used. Jackson Hole, Wyoming is actually a very expensive area, but still sort of remote. I hope I make it there because the area looks really beautiful.
