To be honest, NYC bars and clubs sound like EXACTLY the place you will find insecure bigoted douchebags with penis-envy issues putting their insecurities on others.
(Sorry if I'm generalizing here and this felt personal to someone but doesn't apply to you. I sincerely hate doing that and know not every male in a New York club is like this. I am summarizing personal experiences, particularly with American vs European night clubs overall - not everywhere has a hookup culture. But we do, and night clubs in metropolitan areas are typically a primary spot to mingle for those purposes - for BOTH genders)
