I sometimes wondered how people continually find this old post. :) Now I know, it appears when you do a Google search for "Russian boyfriend." Thanks! I've been all over Russia, not only to Peter and Moscow, and you're right, these cities are not representative of Russia as a whole. Life in cities vs. life in villages is entirely different. I've been to both. :)
