Do you know the dictionary definition for "exceptional?" It means "extraordinary." And, yes I think this is a good word to describe America. It does NOT mean America is the ONLY exceptional nation on the planet. Nor has Obama, or any American leader, ever said that we are the only exceptional nation. This is what Russians don't understand. Seems to me, based on some of your comments, that you believe Russia is exceptional. So, everyone is entitled to their opinions. Russians on LJ don't understand Americans' usage of the word "exceptional." We're not implying we're better than others by using it. It's a common word in the English language - "today's weather is exceptional." Is this also offensive?? :))
