Finally, a nice Russian post about my blog, outside of the LJ world! No conspiracy theories about me, no accusations I'm a spy or former Soviet English teacher, no suspicion I'm being paid by the State Dept. or that my blog is a "project," with many contributing authors. Btw, did you know I also have an immigrant Russian boyfriend, who helps me write posts here? :)) Or, at least some people think so. This guy understands the purpose of my endeavor. Yes, sometimes I'm naive. I've never claimed to be a master historian or omniscient. Just a normal, American woman trying to expand her knowledge of people and cultures around the world. Thanks to this author for understanding this, and for making more intelligent, civil Russians aware of my blog.

I don't know much about this community d3.ru. Is it popular amongst Russian users? I ask because someone contacted me to do a "live chat" there with users. Similar to what Obama did on Reddit, where he answered questions from Internet users at a specified timeframe. Should I do it? This seems to be a mostly political forum, and to argue with Russians and Ukrainians about geopolitical relations is usually counterproductive. I don't see so many trolls on d3.ru and the ban hammer is in full effect, which makes conversations there more manageable and civil. The overall tone and audience seems very different than LJ. Симпатичная, веселая, доброжелательная и умная американка Shannon незнамо почему побывала в России, выучила русский язык и заинтересовалась русскими.
Она завела в Живом журнале блог peacetraveler22.livejournal.com, предназначенный специально для русских, и пишет в нем на двух языках, прилежно отвечая на сотни комментариев.
Интересный блог оказался одним из немногих прямых и коротких культурных мостов между двумя народами, местом, где русские общаются с живым американцем напрямую, без пересказа и посредничества. Разумеется, антиамериканские помои полились на бедную Шэннон волнами.

А к чему весь этот рассказ на политоте? А вот к чему. Шэннон — это как бы проявитель (ну, или лакмусовая бумажка). Намеренно или нет, со своим здравым американским умом, она кратчайшими невинными репликами выявляет весь неадекват, которым мы за последние годы пропитались насквозь (а некоторой частью — пропитались уже при рождении). Если кто–то хочет посмотреть на нас на всех со стороны, глазами постороннего здравого и добродушного человека — почитайте этот интересный блог. Будете удивлены, до чего мы постепенно докатились. Человек спрашивает самые простые бытовые вещи — и на него изливается сплошная политикс\политота (политикс, увы, сильно преобладает). Да и все остальное — личность Шэннон, ее мнения, ее рассказы — тоже весьма интересно.

Based on what I've read, it's much more "intelligent." Do you see what's popular on LJ now? Mostly tits, banal topics and scandals. There are less Krembots on d3.ru, thus comments are more civil and discussions more productive.

Unfortunately this site demand to register prior to navigate this page. I don't like it. The content of the first page I could see, seems like a copy past of the random articles of different sources. This web-page looks pretty anti-Putin for me, but that was just a first look. I don't know how popular it is, because I never heard never seen any links to it.
But this post is nice, I am glad you've got a such a nice press ))) I hope it will be not the last one.
