7Your question remainds me holidays are very close, so pleasant:)
I doubt if our family meeting can be called party but yes, we have a huge feast on New Year!
From my point of view Olivie salad (Оливье), mandarins and champagne are more than enough (I'm sure you already have known why mandarins so important on New Year:))) but my relatives always make a lot of different dishes for selebration. Part of dishes are traditionally (Оливье, селедка под шубой, домашние заготовки), rest are limited only cooker's fantasy.
And of course kids have a huge amount of sweets and gifts - it's happiest days for them:)
There is a very long New Year vacation in Russia so several days after holiday we just eat, watch interesting films (sometimes it's classic soviet comedies as tradition) and have a lot of conversation between us.

Sorry, I forget ask you about your selebration of New Year. How do you do it in America? So interesting!
