About mandarins - it's very simple:)). In times of USSR mandarins weren't exported from another country, no, we had only Сaucasian mandarins which ripen (and appear on markets and shops) near December. So smell of mandarin symbolizes winter, New Year and holidays. Sweet memory:))) PS. Sorry for several correction. Grammatical rules make my cry constantly.
