Yes, I understood right from the start. Many simply do not know or care. From my training I obtained two major table principles: 1) Push back the chair when leaving table 2) Do not wipe your hands on the table cloth.
In some restaurants, I intentionally break these fundamental rules to express my attitude to the lousy service. Unfortunately I am not understood. They do not care.
