Sochi Terror Threat

I don't know how Russians feel about the Olympics, but American television is already showing a lot of ads and promos for the event. In general, the Olympics are a big deal here. Most people enjoy them and are glued to their televisions watching the events and coverage for almost three weeks. However, this past week U.S. media has been on a mission to instill fear about possible terror threats in and around Sochi. It started at the end of December with the Volgograd bombings, but this week panic reached epic proportions with the release of a new video from Islamic terrorists and the identification of potential "black widow" bombers. Of course, it's normal to discuss terror threats before any Olympic Games but Sochi and Russia are receiving a lot more attention than other Olympic hosts, at least in the American press.

What do you think? Can Russian security forces handle the threats posed by these extremists at the Olympics? If possible, would you attend the Sochi Games?

The idea that Putin will make anshlyuz of Ukraine seems to me a genius. How did onkel_hans know about it? The plan was a secret... All of us, here, in Russia, are already equipped with Wehrmacht helmets and armbands with a swastika (aeroflot swastika of course). Tomorrow we will begin a blitzkrieg of Ukraine.
But, to be serious, the Cold War crippled people on both sides of the ocean. You can't imagine how I would have wanted to live without black hatred in my the heart. Both, overwhelming and cheating Putin, tricky and eavesdropping allies Obama - all of them are nasty vestiges of the 20th century. They should not be in the 21st century.

That reader lives in America, and really does not like anything about modern day Russia or Soviet times. I don't know what to think of the situation in Ukraine, it's really chaotic and I have a friend there in Kyiv. I do not believe you have black hatred in your heart! :) And all modern day politicians are fucked in some ways. It's sadly the way of the world now, but I hope Putin protects me in Sochi. I will be there and will announce it soon on my blog.
