The Joys of RuNet!

How can I ever leave the Russian blogosphere when I receive amusing and thought provoking comments like this! :)

Btw, I never see the single male bloggers on LJ being harassed or criticized for not being married. Why is that? Is it only shameful for an older woman to be single in Russian culture, but okay for men to remain unmarried and childless? My life is worthless! I don't have a Russian man...how can I survive? :)

Pleasant weekend to all!

Weathermen always tease us with the prediction of snow, but it never comes. :( We've had only rain so far this weekend. Maybe tomorrow some white stuff will fall. :)

That's a typical logic of Russian women which put men as center of their existence. No husband, no kids, you are lost to the society. Why? In my personal point of view it comes from the times when very few men returned from the WW2 and there was not enough men for every woman. Since then there is a common fear to be left alone especially after a certain age. Does not happen much with men since they can find a partner in almost any circumstances.

And trust me, you are too good for the most Russian men of your age.

It's amusing to see the difference between female comments and male comments to the post. Many male readers say there are no differences in societal norms for women in Russia vs. the West. Yet a lot of women tell me the opposite. :)

I am not sure that those male are adequate enough.
In addition a Russian female is expected to be almost a porn star, good cook etc. Nothing like that is expected from an American woman.

Too many traditionalists here:(

[identity profile] peacetraveler22.livejournal.com 2015-01-25 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't have anything against those who pick the "traditional" life. To each their own. :) However, I don't wish to be judged or considered "abnormal" because I chose a different path. That's the problem.

I think it is because the periods when they can become parents are very different for men and women. Women's ability to give birth to a child ends somewhere in their forties (of course, modern medicine can make miracles making women of more than sixty years happy mothers, but these cases are more unique than usual), and a man can easily become a father in his forties, sixties and even later. So I think men are criticized too, but this usually starts to happen when they are much older.

Thick trolling, very thick! Because in the most Russia people without any good work can't afford to visit Moscow at all. Tickets and hotel prices are over expensive for them!

Yes, very, very thick trolling! :) This person is a master at insults.

Sure, I understand. I've been communicating with such people and trolls for over two years in this journal. :)
