How can I ever leave the Russian blogosphere when I receive amusing and thought provoking comments like this! :)

"Странная женщина. 42 почти года, мужа нет. Работы, видимо, толковой тоже, иначе не каталась бы по самым дешевым билетам в Москву. Детей нет. Чего в жизни добилась-то? Русский кое-как выучила, чтоб русского мужчину найти? Так они давно разобраны, у них уже дети школу заканчивают. При этом гонор ого-го какой. Высокомерно поучает, хотя в сущности пишет банальности и глупости. Вам бы к психотерапевту, тётенька."

Btw, I never see the single male bloggers on LJ being harassed or criticized for not being married. Why is that? Is it only shameful for an older woman to be single in Russian culture, but okay for men to remain unmarried and childless? My life is worthless! I don't have a Russian man...how can I survive? :)

Pleasant weekend to all!

Well, you already know my opinion that people should marry :)
And not just marry but become a part of a dynasty, a chain from past to future.

Marriage is good, but first you must meet the right person! I don't make an effort to do this.

Right person - yes.
But I probably don't see it from the same angle.
For me marriage is not a relationship but an enterprise.
So the right person is who performs her duties well when I do my part honestly.
More a coworker than anything else.

This is some depressing concept of marriage in my opinion. :( More like a business relationship. I need romance, love, passion, adventure...we don't think the same on this topic! :))

The problem with passion is that it can go up and down.
One day you love a person then the next day you yell at each other and you hate that person.
This emotional swing cannot be a firm basis for a family.

Only common goals can bind together tightly.
Something that you are doing together as a team and want it to be done well.

There can be different goals.
It could be when he is an inventor or businessman and she cares about him ensuring that he is doing well and brings wealth to the family.
Or they can raise children together constructing the child's personality according to their chosen goals and values.

But if everybody is self-sufficient and only are together for sex and joy it is not firm.
It's just like "friends with benefits" even when it's officially called marriage.

"Constructing a child's personality according to their chosen goals and values..." this sounds like a science experiment! :) I think "friends with benefits" is fine, but it almost never works. I have been on both sides. One where the guy wanted more (he was an ex-boyfriend), and another situation where I fell in love with the guy. So, it becomes complicated. Most women can't separate sex from emotion in the way men can. No matter how hard we try to fool ourselves into thinking otherwise. :)

My ancestors for several generations were conservative Orthodox merchants :)
