How can I ever leave the Russian blogosphere when I receive amusing and thought provoking comments like this! :)

"Странная женщина. 42 почти года, мужа нет. Работы, видимо, толковой тоже, иначе не каталась бы по самым дешевым билетам в Москву. Детей нет. Чего в жизни добилась-то? Русский кое-как выучила, чтоб русского мужчину найти? Так они давно разобраны, у них уже дети школу заканчивают. При этом гонор ого-го какой. Высокомерно поучает, хотя в сущности пишет банальности и глупости. Вам бы к психотерапевту, тётенька."

Btw, I never see the single male bloggers on LJ being harassed or criticized for not being married. Why is that? Is it only shameful for an older woman to be single in Russian culture, but okay for men to remain unmarried and childless? My life is worthless! I don't have a Russian man...how can I survive? :)

With all due respect, I doubt you can understand what it's like to be a woman in Russia, or the West. :) If you read some of the comments from female readers here, they do not agree with you that everything is the same. About gays, yes I support 100% equality. I don't care who someone loves, or what they do in their bedrooms. It has absolutely no impact on my life. And I'd rather a child grow up in a loving, supportive home with two people of the same sex, than spend their childhood with heterosexual drug addicts, alcoholics or losers.

There are many whiners here and there, I am not surprised you can got such comments from Russia. But I am living hear all my life and I can say what I know, I don't need to invent something. I wasn't talking about all the aspects of woman's life in USA or Russia, only about having a baby.
The woman can only take a decision, to have or not to have a child if she live alone. It was like that for hundreds of years in Russia and it is like that right now. We didn't have in Russia any public tool to force women to give birth out of marriage. Not so long ago, I heard real story that the peasants in Russia left their new born children in a field for death often, when it was not possible for them to rise one up during the starvations times or war's times... They didn't have abortion surgery those times but all the methods they needed not to have a child anyway. And we can call it is a disgusting thing to do but what does it change then and now...

I don't care too who someone loves, or what they do in their bedrooms with thier assess. But I certainly care when this "lovers" go to a government, as it is in Europe, and produce the laws, by using which they take children from the native parents for the false accusations even from the foreign people and give them to gays. For me it is a hell on Earth and I will never accept it!

))) What a brilliant argument! But I wasn't talking about drug addicts, alcoholics or losers as a good parents...
What we humans of twenty first century have is the Christian moral of the first century thanks to wise people or to God, I am not an expert. It had been changing all this years and it was good or we would have been burning and torturing people for telling Earth is not a plate, we would not have a medicine as we know it right now. But I am against of destruction of the foundations of the family.
I am against the craziness of European tolerance, when it is possible and appropriate for EU Mass Media to show the well-known pictures of Muhammad and not write a thing about a gay lobby in government.

Okay, we don't share the same views about gays. You are much more conservative than me, and I'm not religious. However, it's always interesting to hear different viewpoints. :) Btw, is abortion legal in Russia?

Oh, I found some info about:
"In accordance with the basic laws of the Russian Federation on health protection of citizens of 22 July 1993, every woman has the right to decide the issue of motherhood. Abortion is the woman's desire of pregnancy up to 12 weeks, and for social reasons - with age up to 22 weeks, and in the presence of medical indications and consent of the woman, regardless of gestational age."

But Russian Orthodox Christians are forcing our society to forbid it.
