I absolutely hate politics, but as a trademark lawyer I pay close attention to the slogans of politicians, particularly now that the 2016 Presidential race is in full force. I don't know if you have live debates during Russian election cycles, but in the U.S. it's a big deal. We've already had one debate televised, over a year before the election. The participants were all from the Republican party, and I can't say there is any candidate I would support at this point in time. Typically, when the choice is finally narrowed to two Presidential candidates, we go to the polls and vote for the lesser of two evils. My primary concern is always social issues, not foreign policy or even economic matters. To me, it's most important, and I simply can't stand to watch debates where very conservative Republican party members start speaking about Jesus, faith and the topic of abortion. I 100% support freedom of religion, but am completely opposed to mixing Church and State. Now, let's look at the boring, non-creative slogans of some of the 2016 Presidential candidates. Of course, this is not the official slogan of Hillary, but it's eye-catching, huh? :)

(1) Hillary Clinton: This Starts with you.

(2) Bernie Sanders: A Political Revolution is Coming

*It seems many of my Russian readers are familiar with Sanders, most likely because he is a self-proclaimed socialist. I think he will have many supporters from Brighton Beach. :)

(3) Carly Fiorina: New Possibilities. Real Leadership

**Ms. Fiorina was the former head of Hewlett-Packard, and many considered her the winner of the first debate.

(4) Dr. Ben Carson: Heal. Inspire. Revive.

The worst of all the slogans! Sounds like an advertisement for a skin cream or medical treatment. :) In sum, this candidate has zero chance of making it far in the election cycle.

(5) Donald Trump: Take America Back.

I like this slogan. It will appeal to many Obama haters, but this American celebrity who has received the most attention and press will hopefully not make it far in the cycle. If he is elected as the next President, I will seriously consider immigrating to Canada.

(6) Mike Huckabee: From Hope to Higher Ground.

He is one of the worst in my view. Extremely religious and archaic views on women's rights. Nothing infuriates me more than male candidates standing at a podium preaching about the right to life and dictating what women should do with their bodies. Raped by your stepdad at 10 years old, and now pregnant? Who cares? Abortion should not be an option under this candidate's view. You can read about it here. Mother's life is at risk? She should still be forced to have the baby. He is 100% opposed to a woman's right to choose, under ANY circumstance. When I was a teenager, I was very prolife. I was against abortion in all cases except for when the mother's life was at stake. I think this view was a result of indoctrination from my religious schooling. However, once I become an adult, entered the real world, began to have sexual relationships and complicated romantic situations, my view changed entirely. I do not know when life begins, but a woman should have the right to choose whether to give birth, particularly when her own life is at stake or the pregnancy is a result of force or violence.

(7) Ted Cruz: Courageous Conservatives. Reigniting the Promise of America.

No comment. He is the most vile candidate in my opinion. Complete religious wacko.

(8) Jeb Bush: Jeb!

Huh? This slogan says nothing. He is married to a Mexican, and has moderate views on immigration for a Republican. But he is not doing well in polls, probably poisoned by his last name and the political dynasty of his family.

(9) Marco Rubio: New American Century.

He is a young, handsome candidate with a dynamic personality and good debater. Comes from a Cuban immigrant family. Overall, he is not so bad.

(10) Chris Christie: Telling it like it is.

He's a loud mouth, aggressive Governor from New Jersey. So, I think the slogan is the most true to a candidate's personality.

These are only a few examples. You can see they are almost all from Republican candidates because there's no real front runner for this party. They have struggled during recent elections to find a moderate candidate to appeal to a wide number of American voters. So, I'm not sure who will be picked as the final candidate. On the Democratic side, Hillary doesn't have much competition, at least in my view. I expect her to be the final nominee.

Do you like any of these slogans? If you were running for the U.S. or Russian Presidency, what would your slogan be? I think the slogan below sums up the current geopolitical situation, and what needs to be done. But this is an impossible task, for any candidate, in any country.

unfuck-the-world1

The person who comes up with the most creative slogan will receive a prize. :)) Be creative!

I don't agree with his proposed immigration solutions. The thought of building a wall is against the principles upon which the country was founded. It should be free and open, not as East Germany. And what happens when people try to climb over the wall? We will shoot them? Or, just detain them, like we do now when they cross the border?
