Invasion in Times Square!

naked

In the past few months, an invasion has occurred in the heart of Times Square. No, it's not terrorists or depressed stock brokers worried about the recent collapse of the financial markets. It's boobs! I sometimes wonder what it must be like to be a beautiful woman, with no marketable skills other than selling your body. Some busty and shapely immigrants have found a way to milk the millions of tourists who flock to Times Square to visit the constant carnival like circus. I have no idea why so many foreigners and Americans wish to visit this place. I've been there a few times, and there's absolutely no desire to return to this sea of humanity and colorful freak show.

The influx of near-naked women, collecting tips to pose for photos with tourists, has reached epic proportions this summer, and the Mayor and some local residents are angry. They wear only a thong, a thin layer of paint and a big smile. The going price for such a photo ranges from $10 - $20 and some parents are growing alarmed that these women are approaching their teenage boys on vacation. "It's child pornography!", screamed one mom I saw on the news. The police have little power in this situation because public nudity is legal in New York as long as it's part of a "performance." What do you think?

Is this art? :)

Most of the women are Latino and speak no English, but the language of love and sex is universal so it's no problem. Come to the USA, flash a bright smile and your ass, and you too can count a huge stack of dollars at the end of the day! You see, the American dream is still alive and well. :))

money

The Mayor is trying to put an end to this spectacle and shatter the dreams and income of these "artists," but he has no strong legal basis upon which to stand. What do you think? Should they be allowed to remain in Times Square with Spiderman, the famous Naked Cowboy and all the other circus freaks? Would you be offended if you were walking with your young child and one of these women tickled you with a feather in an effort to entice you into posing for a photo?

"what it must be like to be a beautiful woman, with no marketable skills other than selling your body. "
You are a sexist! What about those of the male gender? ;)

It is always better for girls to earn their living with the head than with of a head. But the heads are scarce :(

Looks like art to me!

I wonder, where do they stick their money?...

You sound jealous to me. No shame in what they are doing, in my opinion.

I could never figure out why it may be bad for kids; probably only for those who were not breast-fed, but well, my condolences to them.

Breasts were commercialized and turned into something you cannot see for free for a pretty similar reason as mj, they are the source of income for, basically, pimps around the world.

I find it immoral, to go after these women.

Much better than Las Vegas.

What do you think of the Burning man festival ? Its founders are probably very respectable and wise people having leads in the law, business etc. ?

"
But what is "performance", the definition of it? :))

There is one "performance artist" in Russia, he once nailed his balls to Red Square.
Is it performance of hooliganism or just mental illness? :)

Disclaimer: I have nothing against public nudity.

America has strange laws sometimes.
I remember I visited one strip club while in Houston.
Some girls had their nipples painted with a thick layer of paint.
This way there were "not topless" :)
To remove this paint they would need to pay $20 to get a licence.

The club is this (in case somebody is in Houston)
www. facebook. com/diamondclubcabaret

Nothing special but it's a small "family type" place where you can meet the same girls over your visits, talk, and listen to their stories.

Boobs are like toy railroads.

They were created for kids but adults play with them.

A waiter in France spoke no English until a credit card bounced - and at this point it turned out that his English is very good. Could it be the same for Times Square performers?

I see no evil in that. It's jolly! Unfortunately many people are cross enough.

finally! All other problems in NYC are fixed and they can move on to fight those bizarre, harassing and dangerous topless women!

I'm puzzled!

Are the words "tone" and "gone" pronounced differently??? I mean, the vowels.

"
There are two possible pronunciations of the word scone: the first rhymes with gone and the second rhymes with tone. In US English, the pronunciation rhyming with tone is more common. In British English, the two pronunciations traditionally have different regional and class associations, with the first pronunciation associated with the north of England and the northern working class, while the second is associated with the south and the middle class.

The difference in pronunciation is alluded to in the poem which contains the lines:

I asked the maid in dulcet tone
To order me a buttered scone;
The silly girl has been and gone
And ordered me a buttered scone.

"

From here:

BTW Re boobs. Scones with clotted cream and good tea are unbelieveably tasty. But have millons of calories :)

Latino girls have the best buttocks it the world, I think. Particularly now, when was invented twerk )

[identity profile] iamschik.livejournal.com 2015-08-24 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I think, let them be. Not every performance fits in with our ethtetics but it's a free country. I personally would not take my young child there but as an adult, Isee this place as a release of personal, social, political and financial stresses we constantly enduring. This body show is a Disneyland for adults, wishful thinking at its' simplest.

[identity profile] baby-rhino.livejournal.com 2015-08-24 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
As long as there are tourists willing to pay for this - why should it be a problem?

[identity profile] mila-xm.livejournal.com 2015-08-25 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
These women are no different than performers during gay parades, which are officially approved and encouraged by US governments of different levels. If they are prohibited, I am sure they will find a layer, who would be glad to represent them as victims of discrimination (as representatives of carnivals tradition among people of Central and South American origin - important group of modern US citizens).

I would say it is one of new faces of USA with its changing demographics.

Let them be. It's a free country. Actually bring more topless models and prices will go down.
