Romance movie worth watching!

far-from-the-madding-crowd

Sorry, I'm too lazy to write travel posts recently, and have been watching a lot of films. Normally, I don't like the mindless, formulaic romance movies put out by Hollywood, where everything is predictable with a happy ending and passionate kiss in the final scene. I've been drawn to a lot of British films lately, and this one is absolutely the best - "Far From the Madding Crowd." I highly recommend, although the accents are quite thick and it may be difficult to understand. Beautiful cinematography, great acting and a strong, interesting heroine! She's just amazingly beautiful, and I was completely fixated on her the entire film. Lots of romantic twists, action, class struggles - all classic film themes woven together in a captivating tale. If you watch it, I don't think you will be surprised that I like it so much if you're a regular reader of my blog. Happy viewing! :)

Who has film recommendations for me? Any language, any country! Go...! :)

H8ful eight!
The best film about woman rights! )

[identity profile] peacetraveler22.livejournal.com 2016-01-18 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Women's rights? In what way? :) This film looks too violent for my liking. And, I'm a lady and don't want to hear the word "fuck" thrown around hundreds of times in a two hour film. :)) This is quintessential of all Taratino films.

No, but my favorite Woody Allen film is "Match Point." I've always had a bit of a female crush on Scarlett Johansson, though she's not the best actress. :))

A Streetcar Named Desire, 1951
Marlon Brando flaunts excellent, perfect body in this film. I think this is exactly what you need.

Re: Я знаю, что говорю:)

You're not a good judge of male attractiveness. :) I've never found Brando appealing, not even in the early days.

What do you want to know about my everyday life? When I'm not traveling, I think it's the same as yours most of the time. Get up, work all day, come home, eat, sleep - repeat. :)) Soon, I will write a post about the nice apartment building in which I lived near Washington, DC. Then you will see what a high rise building in the U.S. is like, all of the amenities and oddities. Perhaps it will be interesting.

[identity profile] peacetraveler22.livejournal.com 2016-01-18 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't like comedies very much. I prefer dramas, or period pieces. So, I guess I prefer to cry when it comes to films. :)

[identity profile] peacetraveler22.livejournal.com 2016-01-18 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It doesn't have to be a romantic film. :) This one looks good, but a little creepy. It's a type of mystery or supernatural thriller?

By the way, how do you like british accent? Is it difficult for you to understand it?

[identity profile] peacetraveler22.livejournal.com 2016-01-18 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I like British accents, but sometimes I have problems understanding. For instance, at the beginning of this film because the accents are quite strong. I had to keep rewinding the film, to hear some scenes twice. But then I grew accustomed to the speech after the first 20 minutes, and it was fine. :)

[identity profile] pin-gwin.livejournal.com 2016-01-18 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Your note about accent is terrible for me... I thought it is an issue only for immigrants. English is hopeless.

[identity profile] peacetraveler22.livejournal.com 2016-01-18 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
What note? That I sometimes can't understand heavy British accents, or that I like them? :)

Celtic redhead! No surprise that you liked her :)

I also have a great sympathy to Celtic everything.

My recommendation is the same:
www. imdb. com/title/tt0079579/

It is a romance movie and if you want to understand Russian and Soviet way of life it is like an encyclopedia of it.

[identity profile] peacetraveler22.livejournal.com 2016-01-18 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
She doesn't resemble me at all in appearance, but I like the mentality of her character in this film.

[identity profile] qi-tronic.livejournal.com 2016-01-18 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Interesting it is not the first "Far from the madding crowd" out there!
It is based on a classic novel.

www. imdb. com/find?ref_=nv_sr_fn&q=Far+from+the+Madding+Crowd&s=all

Generally, I do not like when successful movies are remade...

[identity profile] peacetraveler22.livejournal.com 2016-01-18 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
There's another great British film I just watched, also based on a novel. Period piece, war drama called "Testament of Youth", but I haven't read the book. You can watch the trailer here - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1441953/. It too was fabulous! :)

You're a fan of sci-fi? When I feel blue, I listen to depressing music, drowning in my own sorrows. But somehow it's still comforting because you know millions of others also relate to the lyrics, though maybe in a different way. This is why I love music, the human connecter. :))

Your tastes sound similar to mine. However, I usually watch series/shows, not single movies. Here's what I've watched and enjoyed:
Downton Abbey
Mad Men
Mr. Selfridge
Outlander (I've read the first couple of books and didn't finish watching the first season because I know the last few chapters in the book were very graphic)
Olive Kitteridge (both, book and movie are great!)
Masters of Sex - it's more a period piece than a show about sex. You'll see an occasional boob but it's not crazy graphic
War and Peace - they just have the first 3 episodes out and I haven't seen them yet but it looks pretty :)

The Good Wife - a court drama about a stay-at-home mom(Juliana Morgulis) that has to re-start her law carrer after a long break. Been binge-watching that for the last couple of months.

There's more that I like: Grey's anatomy, Parenthood, Bones. Sorry, can't think of more.

[identity profile] onkel-hans.livejournal.com 2016-01-19 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, these are a good choice!

The latest BBC War and Piece has a very peculiar choice of actors. I still love Mel Ferrer and Audrey Hepburn better.

As for me I'd like to recommend you this Chinese adaptation of "Dangerous liaisons" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2071441/
