Сегодня мое внимание вновь привлекла тема о невестах в "подарочной обертке". Сразу оговорюсь, что я никоим образом не собираюсь осуждать этих женщин, ведь они вольны распоряжаться своей жизнью, как им заблагорассудится. В сети есть сотни вебсайтов с глянцевыми фотографиями женщин из России, Украины и стран Восточной Европы, которыми объявлена тотальная охота на принцев закордонных. Носы же дельцов от туризма быстро просекли фишку и стали массово отправлять американцев за моря и акияны - на вечеринки со стайками потенциальных избранниц: все как одна - на ходулях, в боевой раскраске и в платьях, мало чем отличающихся от поясов. Ко всему прочему, общение с этими куколками в большинстве случаев весьма затруднено из-за языкового барьера. Одним из самых популярных сайтов подобной тематики является AnastasiaDate.com. Для начала я предлагаю вам полистать анкеты и фотографии с этого сайта, а также посмотреть короткий трейлер к документальному фильму про брачные агентства - "Люби меня".

Я решила поискать аналогичный сервис для американок, вожделенно ищущих своего русского царевича, но, увы и ах, успехом мои поиски так и не увенчались. Зато я нашла сайт для женихов из России, стремящихся стать единым целым с невестами из других стран. :) smile emoticonУвы, но это всего-навсего одна страница, на которой выбор русских парней ограничивается... количеством пальцев одной руки. Детали происхождения кого бы то ни было для меня мало что значат: я встречалась с украинцем, словаком и другими белыми мужчинами, а вот русский, с кем бы мне захотелось провести всю свою жизнь, мне так и не повстречался. Да и не могу я себе представить влюбленность в человека, с кем общаться пришлось бы на уровне "твоя-моя-мало-мало-понимать". Для мужины, наверное, такой вариант был бы идеальным: красивая и молчаливая жена! smile emoticon :) Для меня же одной из основ для взаимоотношений является возможность вдумчиво поговорить с умным человеком на множество тем о том и сем.

Интересно, почему американки не ищут русских возлюбленных с настойчивостью отправляющихся за тридевять земель, чтобы заманить невест в США, американцев? Мне кажется, что культурные различия во взаимоотношениях полов слишком разительны, возможно даже, что роман американки с русским вообще крайне маловероятен, хотя в любви, конечно, всякое может случиться...

Ведь должны же быть какие-то преимущества отношений с русскими парнями! О чем я не знаю? :))smile emoticon

I don't feel sorry for them. Most of the time, the men are old and they bring over very young brides. I don't think these men are so naive that they can't understand the woman's true intentions (citizenship and better life). If true love develops in the long term, it's just an added bonus. The most important thing in their minds is physical appearance and a traditional sense of obedience from a woman. For this, they are willing to pay a high price. Just supply and demand. :) The basics of business or any contract.

Ukrainian girls are the prettiest on the Earth. Only the Swedish, Polish and Brazilian ones could compare to them.

I think it's perfectly OK for a Ukrainian girl to date a foreign person she likes, and in addition get the citizenship and all the benefits of being a citizen of the "1st world". Build her new life in an environment suited for humans, not orcs.

You surely can find sites , where American women search for Arabian, Japanese, Italian or Chinese "princes" - guess why ? Russia isn't "prestigious" )

I don't notice much difference between Ukrainian and Russian women honestly. It seems the Ukrainian girls dress even more provocatively than Russian females, at least based on my time in Kyiv. Maybe this is because I visited Ukraine in summer time, when they weren't covered in coats. I think Finnish women are beautiful and I like Latinas. So, I have diverse taste when it comes to female beauty - both light and dark skinned. :))

I would extend the scope - is it possible to be happy in a marriage if you are culturally very different? How much adaptation you are ready to do and expect from your partner? How much both partners patriotism-exceptionalism will be an issue? Religious-ethical differences? What could fix and align it?
The only answer is love....

Yes, but there are some cultures where gender variations are much stronger than others. For instance, I don't see much difference between dating relationships in Western Europe and America. For me, the biggest obstacle is religion. I could not date an evangelical.

Ahem, this statement is utterly judgmental in itself. Not to mention, totally wrong way to look at it because of luck of understanding the phenomenon.

All most Russian mail-order brides (old term, today it's really meet-on-internet girls) do - is widen the partner search to the global scope. Exactly as you don't dream about spending time with russian groom - they don't either. Living in a small provincial f.ussr town and wanting a family - if you want to limit your search for partner to your immediate offline surrounding - you are f8cked, and not in a good way. They choice of prospective boyfriends is often limited to a bunch of men from local metal factory, most of whom, starting from age 18, are alcoholics. It's just how it is there. I worked summer on a factory when I was in school, and those men start drinking in a changing room at 10 am.

Even 20 years ago, there was no other choice other than picking the best of available crop, or moving to capital city. Where situation is a little better (but still very difficult to find a good reliable man). And to meet men, girls would go to bars, friends parties, walking backpacking trips with groups of people, dance lessons... Today - the smart women say no to what society is offering and expecting of them, and widen search to another countries. Instead of going to bars and dance lessons, they go on internet.

Due to many reasons, it's a surprisingly good match with situation in America, where for some reasons (I don't pretend to understand) men can't find reliable women to start a family. So they hookup on internet with foreign women...

Due to my origin and history - I know a LOT of those couples. There are some gold diggers, and "bad" girls, just like you'd meet here, but way more than half of them are great couples and loving families.

I can totally understand how that "sudden" competition from abroad can be seen in a negative way (even if subconsciously) by american women :)

"men can't find reliable women to start a family"...this isn't really true. There are plenty of women in the U.S. who follow the traditional approach - marriage, house, babies....The difference is that if you don't follow this path in the U.S., you aren't judged in the same harsh manner, or considered worthless as is sometimes the case in Russia. And these mail-order/Internet brides, or whatever you want to call them, are no competition for me. Men who are attracted to such glossy females would not be attracted to me and this is fine. I'm a "plain Jane," I'm sure you know this term because your English is good. :)

I guess, most women wants their partner to be a successful man, who got a good well paid job and social status. Russian migrants rarely meets this criteria from the start, they have to study language, to find a job, first positions may be far from well paid. Love is a great thing unless you are poor, hungry and depressed.

Yes, you're right! :) But "success" is a subjective term. It means different things to different people. For me, financial worth isn't a component of the equation, but this is because I easily support myself, without the need to rely on a man for income.

For funny example, they can heal people and build a house, and make repairs complicated hardware (or an apartment) by himself, without the help of authorized experts. We are universal soldiers and we have extensive specialization, but often with shallow depth. Experts in everything and nothing at the same time, it's our advantage and our great problem. I tell you why. Because women are so practical. They all want to have a decent living. I think you know why - you're a woman too. America has a high standard of living, much more higher than in Russia. Russian women, like all other women in the world, desire to get those standards of living. Actually they are trying to get to Europe maybe even more often than to America. Europe a little better than America in terms of standard of living and it's closer (easier to visit relatives). Now you know why American and European women don't want to go to Russia. It's simple. Isn't it?

I don't know. I've been to all of these countries and saw plenty of handsome men in these places. :) However, it's too difficult to be in a long distance relationship long term. I have no real complaints about American men either. I like that most of them value women for something more than appearance and baby making. :)

A mail-order bride came and soon she discovered her western husband isn't Prince Charming, the culture differed too much, the language was too difficult and she couldn't find a work or make friends. There's a famous American actress - Hayden Panettiere - who is married to a Ukrainian hockey player. I heard her speaking excellent Russian in an interview this week. :)
